BHIM app reaches near 20 million download mark

Exhibiting enormous popularity among the users, digital payments app BHIM has reached close to 20 million downloads so far, said, Amitabh Kant, chief executive officer of NITI Aayog.

“We have close to 20 million downloads of BHIM app,” Kant said at an event in New Delhi, reported The Economic Times.

Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the app for enabling fast and secure cashless transactions using mobile phones.

BHIM is a platform designed for making payment through Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) modes simpler.

Digital payment channels like mobile wallets, USSD and RuPay recorded massive rise in transactions post demonetisation.
