Bitcoins worth Rs 20 crore gets stolen from a top exchange in India biggest crypto theft so far.
In an FIR filled to the cyber cell, Coinsecure, the Delhi-based cryptocurrency exchange has accused its Chief Security Officer Amitabh Saxena of stealing the money from the firm’s wallet.
In its complaint, the exchange requested Government to seize Saxena’s passport, fearing his exit from the country.
A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections and Section 66 of the Information Technology Act.
The exchange which caters to more than two lakh users across India found that all its bitcoins saved offline had vanished.
The firm later found that the private keys (password) stored by the company offline, were leaked online, leading to the hack.
