Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group appoints S Ramanathan as CCO for India

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial GroupLeading financial entity Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG) has appointed S Ramanathan as its Chief Compliance Officer for India operations. The appointment is applicable with effect from October 10, 2017.

Ramanathan would be based in Mumbai and report jointly to Ryoichi Shinke, Regional Executive for India and Sri Lanka and Kevin Ludwick, Singapore-based Head of Asian Compliance Office.

He has been appointed to lead the compliance function and team at pan-India level. He will be closely handling the Asia Compliance Office located in Singapore and would assist implementation of the MUFG Compliance Change Program for India.

This new appointment was undertaken to boost the level of ongoing efforts for strengthening governance functions in sync with local and international banking and regulatory requirements.

The bank has also made some crucial appointments at senior governance roles in India including Chief Risk Officer and Head of Legal.

“I am very excited to have Ram on board our leadership team here in India and look forward to having him drive our pan-India compliance function and coordinate the efforts with our Asia & Oceania regional base,” Shinke added.

Ramanathan has a strong experience in Legal and Compliance functions with relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) segment across Indian and foreign organisations.

He was the Head of Legal, Compliance and Principal AML Officer at Societe Generale prior to joining MUFG.
