Public sector lender State Bank of India has appointment former EY Partner Charanjit Attra as its new chief financial officer said the lender an exchange filing.
As a part of his new appointment, Attra will report to J Swaminathan, Deputy Managing Director of the finance department.
Attra will supervise statutory audit functions in the bank apart from coordinating with the Reserve Bank of India and audit related to the National Financial Reporting Authority.
Before joining SBI, Attra was appointed as a partner at EY. Earlier, he served as the CFO of 3i Infotech and ICICI Securities.
The appointment of Chief Financial Officer in SBI is done after the lender received a clarification from RBI on its mandate on the hiring of specialized professionals who are qualified CAs. In sync with the massive transformation in the banking sector, the central bank had directed banks to name qualified personnel to head critical functions such as finance to ensure better risk governance.
