BOB unveils NCMC RuPay prepaid card to ease payments

Bank of Baroda unveiled the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) RuPay reloadable prepaid card. Keeping up with the ‘One Nation, One Card’ concept, the Bank of Baroda’s new chip-enabled contactless prepaid card may be used to pay for public transportation on the metro as well as future use cases for bus, train, cab, ferry, tolls, and parking.

According to Bank of Baroda, the card can also be used for daily ATM cash withdrawals and payments via POS (point of sale) and e-commerce. Customers and non-customers can get the card at Bank of Baroda locations, and it will be activated immediately for real-time use.

The card is compatible with both online and offline transactions at NCMC-specific terminals. At any time, the maximum online wallet amount is 1 lakh, and the maximum offline wallet balance is 2,000.

Lal Singh, Executive Director of Bank of Baroda, said, “The Bank of Baroda NCMC RuPay Prepaid card adds a new dimension to cashless, on-the-go transactions and has the potential to transform the public transport commuting experience for users. With multiple use cases, the card offers enormous convenience, flexibility and security to cardholders.”

Cardholders can load/reload money into their online wallets via a specific bank gateway. Reloading the offline wallet is possible at designated NCMC terminal operators at transit stops.
