Ganni Veeranjaneyulu Appointed Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank

Ganni Veeranjaneyulu

Ganni Veeranjaneyulu has been appointed as the new chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (APCOB). This appointment was officially confirmed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, marking a significant development in the state’s cooperative banking sector. Veeranjaneyulu will also simultaneously serve as the chairman of the Eluru District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), holding two key positions that underscore his influence and experience in the cooperative movement of Andhra Pradesh.

The selection of Veeranjaneyulu as APCOB chairman followed a competitive process involving other prominent leaders from the Kamma community, including former minister Nettem Raghuram from NTR district and Makkena Mallikarjuna Rao from Guntur district. Both were considered strong contenders due to their political standing and the lack of cabinet representation from their respective regions. However, political dynamics, especially the need to strengthen TDP’s presence in the Godavari districts where seats were allocated to the party’s ally Jana Sena, played a decisive role in the final decision. TDP national general secretary and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh was reportedly instrumental in backing Veeranjaneyulu, aiming to reinforce the party’s leadership in areas where Jana Sena has a greater presence.

The appointment to APCOB is significant as the chairman enjoys cabinet rank status and oversees the apex cooperative banking institution in the state. Veeranjaneyulu, who served as an MLA from 2014 to 2019 and is currently the TDP president for Eluru district, brings valuable administrative and legislative experience to the role. His leadership is expected to drive forward the agenda of cooperative banking and rural credit in Andhra Pradesh, ensuring efficient delivery of banking services to farmers and rural communities.

Alongside Veeranjaneyulu’s elevation, the state government filled several other key posts in the cooperative sector. Kamepalli Sitaramaiah from TDP was named chairman of the Prakasam DCCB, while Tummala Ramaswamy Babu from Jana Sena assumed charge as chairman of the Kakinada DCCB. The government also appointed Chaganti Muralikrishna of Jana Sena as chairman of the Eluru District Cooperative Marketing Society, Kasireddy Syamala from TDP as chairperson of Prakasam DCMS, and P. Chandramouli as chairman of Kakinada DCMS. These appointments complete the process of filling cooperative bank and marketing society chairperson posts across all 13 districts, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening cooperative institutions at every level.
