Kuhoo Finance, a tech-driven NBFC firm, has appointed Vineet Mahajan as its new Chief Financial Officer. The move is seen as a strategic step as Kuhoo Finance accelerates its mission to make quality education more accessible and affordable for students across India.
Mahajan brings over 25 years of experience in the banking, financial services, and insurance sector, having held senior leadership roles at Aavas Financiers, Edelweiss, and Deutsche Postbank Home Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant certified by the ICAI and a commerce graduate from the University of Delhi, with a distinguished track record in financial strategy, fundraising, and governance.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for Kuhoo Finance, which recently secured an NBFC licence from the Reserve Bank of India, enabling it to lend directly from its own books and expand its education finance offerings. With this new capability, Kuhoo aims to introduce a wider suite of loan products for students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and upskilling courses, and to strengthen its partnerships with educational institutions, banks, and alternative lenders.
As CFO, Mahajan will be responsible for fortifying Kuhoo’s financial governance and ensuring full compliance with RBI regulations, a crucial aspect for any NBFC operating in India’s tightly regulated financial sector. He will also lead the development of real-time financial reporting and fund utilisation systems, which are essential for transparent, data-driven decision-making. Another key focus will be automating finance operations to improve efficiency and building a robust liability franchise using co-lending models and securitisation structures. Mahajan’s leadership is expected to help Kuhoo Finance reduce its cost of funds by 30% and maintain gross non-performing assets below 1% in the coming financial year, while also preparing the company for a future initial public offering.
