Pune: Tech Mahindra has acquired Finastra’s cash management product suite, taking full ownership of three transaction banking platforms used by corporate and institutional banks: Fusion Cash Management (FCM), Fusion Virtual Accounts (FVA) and Fusion Liquidity Management (FLM). The IT services major announced the deal on 23 October 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The move shifts Tech Mahindra further from being a services partner for banking software towards owning the intellectual property itself, a model that typically brings recurring licence and support revenue alongside implementation work.
What Tech Mahindra is getting
Besides the IP behind FCM, FVA and FLM, the transaction covers IP and capabilities across CashPlus and Global CashPlus, application programming interfaces (APIs), payables and receivables, balance and transaction reporting, liquidity management, cash-flow forecasting and virtual accounts.
The suite will sit within Tech Mahindra’s Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) solutions portfolio. Existing customers will keep access to the platforms along with ongoing services and support, and experienced product engineering and customer success staff from Finastra will move to Tech Mahindra as part of the transition.
Why cash management, and why now
Corporate treasurers increasingly expect their banks to offer real-time visibility of cash positions, automated payables and receivables, API-based treasury connectivity and tighter compliance controls. Virtual accounts and liquidity tools have become central to how banks compete for corporate transaction banking mandates, where switching costs are high and relationships run long.
“The acquisition of Finastra’s Cash Management product suite strengthens our banking products portfolio and expands our ability to support financial institutions across critical cash and liquidity management needs,” said Anil Venuturupalli, SVP, Banking Group and Chief Product Officer, Financial Services, Tech Mahindra. He added that the company’s focus is on evolving the platforms to meet growing demand for “intelligent, connected and efficient cash management solutions.”
Tech Mahindra said the deal brings together product IP, an installed customer base, specialist talent, its existing Finastra Centre of Excellence and the long-standing partnership between the two firms, creating a platform for growth across cash and liquidity management, virtual accounts, supply chain finance, cash-flow forecasting and adjacent transaction banking areas.
Ruchir Purwar, Head of Partnerships and Cross Selling Sales at Finastra, called the deal “a good next step for these products and, most importantly, for the customers who rely on them,” noting that Tech Mahindra already knows the business well.
Part of a wider portfolio reshuffle
For Vista Equity Partners-backed Finastra, the sale continues a streamlining drive that has already seen it divest its Universal Banking business, its US mid-market banking operations and its Treasury and Capital Markets unit, according to FinTech Futures.
For Tech Mahindra, the acquisition follows its purchase a few months ago of an initial 85 per cent stake in Canadian payments and wealth technology firm Avant Techno Solutions, reported at around CAD 28 million, with the remaining stake to be acquired by June 2029. Together, the two deals signal a clear push to build an IP-led banking and payments products business rather than rely on services revenue alone.
What it means for banks
For banks running the Fusion cash management stack, the immediate priority is continuity of support and product roadmaps under the new owner. Over the longer term, the deal places an India-headquartered technology company in direct control of a global transaction banking platform, at a time when Indian lenders are themselves investing heavily in corporate cash management, API banking and real-time liquidity services.
