Bajaj Finserv said its group-wide artificial intelligence programme helped generate more than ₹6,500 crore in loan disbursements and over ₹90 crore in insurance revenue in the first half of FY27. The figures come from the group’s Q2 FY27 investor presentation filed with the stock exchanges on 3 November 2026, the same day it reported a 25.4% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹5,952 crore.
The presentation lists more than 400 AI projects across the group, of which over 150 are already deployed, backed by a dedicated team of more than 500 people across its subsidiaries. It is one of the clearest disclosures yet of measurable returns from AI at an Indian financial group, and it follows wider evidence of AI-led productivity gains at Indian banks.
Where Bajaj Finserv is using AI
The presentation sorts the work into five areas:
- Enterprise AI: voice and text bots for lead generation and servicing, vision AI for KYC and document checks, AI-written business requirement documents, and AI models for offers, approval rates and underwriting.
- Consumer AI: a multimodal platform that lets customers use text, voice and vision inside its apps, and a push to make its products discoverable on AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
- Agentic AI: autonomous agents across sales, operations, collections, HR, IT and risk that can plan and work across systems rather than follow fixed rules.
- Data AI: a data platform with feature marts and embeddings across voice, text, video and images, used to build custom credit and insurance risk models.
- AI governance: group-wide AI policies and structured red teaming of AI systems, with DPDP, cyber and AI governance tracked as emerging risks at board level.
The governance focus matters as lenders give AI agents more access to customer data, a risk highlighted in recent cases of AI agents overstepping at Indian banks.
AI bots now serve 7 in 10 Bajaj General customers
At Bajaj General Insurance, 92.9% of servicing was digital in H1 FY27, up from 82% a year earlier, and 68.9% of customers were served by AI bots (chatbot 34.8%, voicebot 34.2%). The bots exchanged 115.1 million messages across seven languages. Digital policy issuance stood at 96% and only 0.13% of premium was collected in cash.
New AI tools this quarter include Auto Inspect, which reads vehicle photos to detect damage, and an admissibility agent that checks motor claims against policy terms, with humans keeping the final say. The insurer said these cut claims admissibility time by 60%, while GenAI extraction of third-party legal claim documents halved claims registration time and AI-based document analysis for surety bonds cut underwriting time by 80%.
Bajaj Life Insurance is using GenAI tools for sales coaching and pitch building, used by more than 17,000 staff in H1, and plans to take its DIGI 2.0 login and underwriting platform live by November 2026. Bajaj Finance, which earlier moved its core lending to the cloud with Pennant Technologies, said its FINAI programme is being rolled out in phases across businesses.
