Mastercard has named Abhishek Lahiri as its Vice President of public policy, to drive the company’s policy agenda across South Asia. Lahiri brings over 17 years of experience in fintech, payments, and emerging technologies, having worked with industry giants like Google, Amazon, and Meta.
In his previous role as Head of Fintech and Payments Policy at Google, he played a pivotal role in navigating regulatory frameworks and fostering strategic partnerships for Google Pay and fintech innovations.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Lahiri highlighted Mastercard’s commitment to financial inclusion, digital empowerment of small businesses, and supporting government-led initiatives for a digitized economy.
With extensive experience spanning India, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the South Pacific, Lahiri has been at the forefront of policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, and digital transformation in the financial sector.
