Payment solution firm AGS Transact Technologies will soon be launching pilot a quick response (QR) code based cardless withdrawal on its white-label ATMs (WLAs).
The company that operates ‘OnGo’ a WLAs service, will launch the QR based service soon after receiving approval from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), said Ravi B Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director.
He also explained that once Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is operational on ATMs, a customer can perform transactions using the QR code.
After the launch, the ATMs will be displaying a menu option suggesting ‘with card’ or ‘without card’ transaction. If the user selects the ‘without card’ option, the ATM screen will display the UPI menu and the amount to be withdrawn.
“If we visit an ATM to withdraw an amount using UPI, the ATM will be displaying a QR code which can be scanned using any mobile-based UPI app such as BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money), confirm the transaction, and the cash will come out of the ATM,” said Goyal.
