Amazon opens first cash-based Go Convenience store in New York

amazonAmazon has unveiled its first Go Convenience store in New York with a new feature wherein now customers can do shopping using cash.

Last year, Amazon had launched its hi-tech Go Convenience store wherein customers can only enter with an app that links to a credit card or Amazon account.

The stores provided facility wherein shoppers can pull items off and walk out. But the company faced a lot of critics for discriminating against the poor, after which it confirmed last month that it is working on way to accept paper cash and coins.

In the new store, through the turnstile entrance, the employee of Amazon will swipe those who want to pay by cash. After the customer finishes the shopping, an employee will scan each item with a mobile device and cash them out. There will be still no cash in the store.

It is still not clear from when its 11 other Go store will start accepting cash.
