Anand Viswanathan Appointed as Axis Bank’s New Chief Risk Officer

Axis Bank has named Anand Viswanathan as its new Chief Risk Officer (CRO), with his three-year tenure scheduled to run from January 1, 2026, to December 31 2028.

He will take over the role from Amit Talgeri, whose second term concludes on 31 December 2025. According to the bank’s regulatory disclosure, Talgeri will be relieved of his responsibilities on January 18  2026.

Presently, Viswanathan heads Market & Liquidity Risk, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Model Risk at Axis Bank. With over 20 years of expertise in risk oversight, financial markets and structured products, he has played a key role in shaping the bank’s risk strategy.

A graduate of IIM Calcutta, Viswanathan is also a rank-holder Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary, and additionally holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) credential from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

The board approved the leadership change and documented it in accordance with regulatory requirements. The appointment is expected to bolster the bank’s risk management architecture in view of shifting market dynamics and a heightened focus on governance.
