Safety of banking or cryptocurrency apps on mobile phones is likely to get affected as an Android Banking Malware named Trojan has targeted mobile applications of various banks and cryptocurrencies.
According to a report published by Quickheal Security Labs, more than 232 banking apps, as well as cryptocurrency apps, have been targeted by the malware so far. The malware tracks the activities on these apps and then sends fake notifications on the users mobile asking for confidential security details.
Several prominent names such as Axis Mobile, HDFC Bank Mobile Banking, SBI Anywhere Personal, HDFC Bank Mobile Banking LITE, iMobile by ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank GO Mobile+, Abhay by IDBI Bank Ltd, IDBI Bank GO Mobile, IDBI Bank mPassbook, Baroda mPassbook, Union Bank Mobile Banking, Union Bank Commercial Clients are targeted by the Android Banking Trojan.
The malware is also targeting customers through cryptocurrency apps like Bitfinex, Bitcoinium, Bitcoin Ticker Widget, Bitcoin Price, BitCoin Wallet, Blockchain Merchant, Bitcoin and Ether Wallet, CoinMarketCapp among others.
Data breach is a huge security concern as it is targeting several big business and financial organizations.
As per Quickheal, over 1,200 episodes of malware affecting computing as well as mobile devices were revealed in 2017 alone.
