Private lender Axis Bank has named Puneet Sharma as its new chief financial officer (CFO). Sharma would be replacing Jairam Sridharan.
Puneet Sharma‘s appointment will come into effect from March 6 as Sridharan’s resignation as group executive and CFO will be effective from the close of business hours on March 5.
At Axis, Sharma will be reporting to the managing director and CEO Amitabh Chaudhry.
Sharma holds more than 23 years of experience across banks, financial institutions and consulting.
Before joining Axis Bank, he was associated with Tata Capital as a senior management functionary and was the group chief financial officer since 2014.
He is also an alumnus of Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and had worked with Citibank in roles covering areas spanning structured cash solutions, treasury operations, and risk monitoring.
Axis Bank has made some significant restructuring in the past few months. The new management at bank is pushingfor new growth; Axis Bank is seeing numerous resignations in the last few months. Nearly 15,000 employees have resigned from the bank over the last few months which also include mid and branch-level execs.
