Axis Bank announced that its Board has accepted Amitabh Chaudhry’s re-appointment as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for another three years, beginning January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2027.

Chaudhry became CEO of Axis Bank in January 2019 after serving as HDFC Standard Life’s CEO. Chaudhry succeeded Shikha Sharma as Axis’ CEO.

Chaudhry has initiated various projects at Axis over the last five years, ranging from revamping technology platforms to changing how new business is acquired. Under Chaudhry’s leadership, Axis Bank purchased Citibank’s retail division in India in 2023, in what may be considered a significant transaction for the bank’s activities in the nation.
