Summer vacations will be a bit more exciting as Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a new set of rules that enables you to book multiple train tickets with just one ID.
Prior to the booking, the user will have to link his IRCTC ID with Aadhaar. According to official statistics, when IRCTC launched its website in 2002, only 29 tickets were booked online on the first day. Today more than 1.3 million tickets are booked online via IRCTC’s portal every day. More than 20 million people commute via Indian Railways every day.
As per the new set of rules, a user can book up to 12 tickets in a month. The person should have an Aadhaar verified ID along with at least one passenger also being verified through Aadhaar.
There is no need to do Aadhaar Verification for booking up to 6 tickets in a month, as earlier.
