About the recruitment
State Bank of India is filling 7 Specialist Cadre Officer posts on a regular basis through its Central Recruitment and Promotion Department. The two roles — Chief Manager in SMGS-IV and Manager in MMGS-III — sit within the bank's product and research function, focusing on derivative and other market products for corporate and retail clients.
Both posts are in the Specialist Cadre and carry no provision for conversion into the General cadre. The suggested place of posting for both roles is Mumbai. The number of vacancies is provisional and may change based on the bank's actual requirement.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Indian citizens and must hold an MBA, PGDM, PGDBM, PGDBA or an equivalent degree. Qualification and experience are assessed as on 30 September 2026. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required for both posts.
The Chief Manager post requires a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in Forex and Rupee markets, and the age limit is 30 to 40 years. The Manager post requires a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in Equity, Forex or Debt research, and the age limit is 24 to 36 years. Experience in Corporate or Non-Corporate organisations, research firms, brokerage firms, banks, NBFCs or mutual funds qualifies for both posts. Teaching or training experience will not be counted.
A PwBD reservation is available under the Visual Impairment — Low Vision category on a horizontal basis. Age relaxation for reserved categories is available as per Government of India guidelines. Candidates should refer to the official notification for the full list of eligibility conditions and age-relaxation details.
Selection process
Selection is in two stages: shortlisting and interview. Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee a call for interview; the bank's shortlisting committee will set the parameters and invite an adequate number of candidates.
The interview carries 100 marks, and the bank will decide the qualifying marks as well as the venue. The merit list is prepared in descending order of interview scores. Where candidates share the same score at the cut-off, they are ranked by age in descending order. Interview intimation will be sent by email or uploaded on the bank's website; no hard copy will be dispatched.
How to apply
Applications are accepted online only under Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/26 on the bank's careers portal. Candidates must register with a valid email ID and mobile number, upload a scanned photograph and signature, fill in the application form and pay the fee through the integrated payment gateway using a debit card, credit card or internet banking. Registration is treated as complete only when the fee is paid on or before the closing date. The application form can be edited up to three times before final submission; no changes are possible after payment.
Documents to be uploaded include a detailed resume, ID proof, proof of date of birth, educational certificates, experience certificates, a duly filled and signed Biodata Form (available on the careers portal), Form-16 or latest salary slip, and caste or PwBD certificates if applicable. An NOC from the present employer is mandatory for those working in a government institute, public sector undertaking or public sector bank; it may be submitted at the interview if not available at the time of registration. Candidates should print and retain the e-receipt and the application form after successful payment.
Candidates are advised to read the official notification carefully for complete instructions on document specifications, fee details and other conditions before applying.
