IT major Cognizant has elevated Ramkumar Ramamoorthy as the new Chairman and Managing Director of its India operations. Ramamoorthy is associated with the company for over two decades and in his new role, he will report directly to Cognizant’s Executive committee.
Ramamoorthy had been significant in levelling-up several of Cognizant’s India-based segments, according to an email communication sent to employees from Cognizant CEO Brian Humphries.
Ramamoorthy’s expertise includes areas such as marketing and communications, market research and intelligence, knowledge management, and public affairs.
During his stint as the Executive Director at Cognizant India, Ramamoorthy was committed to the enhancement Cognizant Foundation and Cognizant Outreach.
Prior to Cognizant, Ramamoorthy was associated with Tata Consultancy Services and had also been a lecturer in India’s two pioneering colleges and was also the Principal for one of them.
“We are fortunate to have many talented and engaged colleagues in India, more than 2,00,000 in all, who excel at serving our clients,” he added.
“These committees will help us further strengthen our operations in the country, proactively advance our agenda as we engage with the media and government, drive greater diversity and inclusion throughout our organization…and work to accelerate Cognizant’s top-line growth,” Humphries added.
