Coronavirus Update: PM Narendra Modi announces nationwide lockdown for 21 days

Amid the recent outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the second time in five days. During his address, he announced that the entire nation will be locked down for the next 21 days from midnight tonight and appealed to the Indians to forget what stepping out feels like, or warned that the entire country will go back 21 years and face the consequences.

Over 500 coronavirus cases have been reported in India so far, as per the Health Ministry data on Tuesday, with Narendra Modi saying it is imperative to level-up the “fighting spirit” of the people up while curbing the spread of the virus. As 32 states and Union Territories already imposed complete lockdown till March 31, the Centre had directed them to ensure curfew wherever necessary in the wake of people not adhering the lockdown orders.
