Cryptojacking attack hits India, more than 2,000 computers hacked at Aditya Birla Group

In India’s first and biggest ‘cryptojacking’ attack more than 2,000 computers at Aditya Birla Group have been hijacked.

This hacking was reportedly carried out by miners to mine cryptocurrency.Cryptojacking is secret use of a computing device to mine cryptocurrency.

“Recently, the advance threat detection systems of our Group alerted us of suspicious activity on some desktop systems. Based on this, our internal team immediately carried out an investigation and deployed countermeasures to isolate and eliminate the cause of this activity,” said Aditya Birla Group.

According to a media report, the attack was reported a month ago at a group’s overseas subsidiary and the hackers had attacked to mine a virtually undetectable digital currency called Monero.
