Giesecke+Devrient Introduces AI-Powered Solutions to Transform Payment Card Issuance and Activation

Giesecke+Devrient

Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), a global SecurityTech company, has unveiled a new suite of AI-driven solutions aimed at redesigning the last mile of payment card issuance and improving cardholder activation rates. The announcement expands G+D’s Convego product portfolio with capabilities including AI-assisted address validation, NFC-enabled smart mailers, and kiosk-based instant card pickup.

The initiative addresses a longstanding challenge in the banking and payments industry — the gap between card delivery and first transaction. According to G+D, issues such as incorrect addresses, delayed deliveries, and inefficient onboarding flows continue to impact activation rates and customer engagement.

At the core of the launch is Convego validAIgent, an agentic AI-powered solution that validates address data before shipment, identifies likely delivery failures, and synchronizes corrections across CRM and personalization systems. The platform can also proactively contact customers to confirm updated addresses and automate reissuance processes.

G+D has also introduced Convego Smart Package, featuring embedded Bluetooth-enabled packaging that triggers app or SMS notifications when a payment card reaches the customer, encouraging immediate activation. Additionally, Convego QuickCard enables secure kiosk-based instant pickup for new or replacement cards, reducing dependency on postal delivery.
