The team is likely to broaden and over 5,000 people will be hired in the next few months.

Media reports suggest that this is going to be the largest team set-up by any IT service provider firm for Google Cloud.

HCL will be setting up three Google Cloud-specific labs, one each in Dallas, London and Noida.

It will work on pilots for clients and enable their shift to Google’s cloud platform.

Google and HCL Technologies will jointly market the solutions to clients, with the support of Google’s senior architects and development team assisting HCL in adopting its cloud platform.

“HCL and Google have a deep and long-standing relationship, and this new business unit is a strategic step forward in our partnership. I am confident that the Google Cloud Business Unit will accelerate the execution of digital transformation of global organizations as well as incubate new IP and solutions that will redefine the market,” said C Vijayakumar, President and CEO, HCL Technologies.
