In a bid to facilitate transaction without debit card and PIN, DCB Bank has unveiled Bengaluru’s first ATM that accepts Aadhaar number and Aadhaar fingerprint (biometric) to dispense cash.
Former Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Nandan Nilekani launched the “cardless and PIN less” ATM. Notably, Nilekani is the Chairperson and Co-founder of EkStep Foundation of a non-profit literacy organisation.
After unveiling the ATM, Nilekani said he is delighted that DCB Bank has launched an Aadhaar based-ATM in Bengaluru, the first of its kind in the city. “I am confident the ATM will provide Aadhaar holders a convenient way to withdraw cash,” he remarked.
DCB Bank Chairman Nasser Munjee said that Bengaluru is an important centre for the bank and such ATMs indicate bank’s commitment to invest in customer facing technology and promote a new way of banking.
