About the recruitment
Indian Bank has announced the engagement of 1,500 apprentices for the financial year 2026-27 under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The seats are distributed across 30 States and Union Territories, with Uttar Pradesh holding the highest number at 285, followed by Tamil Nadu at 270 and West Bengal at 145. District-wise vacancy details are available in Annexure III of the official notification.
This is a fixed-duration training arrangement of 12 months. Apprentices are not regular bank employees and are not entitled to standard employee allowances or benefits. Indian Bank has no obligation to offer permanent or contractual employment after the training period ends. Apprentices who complete more than 338 paid days and meet assessment requirements will receive a digital Certificate of Proficiency issued by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern Region) through the NATS 2.0 portal.
Eligibility
Candidates must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Graduation must have been completed on or after 1 April 2022 and the result declared on or before 1 November 2026. Graduates who passed before 1 April 2022, as well as candidates awaiting results after 1 November 2026, are not eligible.
The age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 November 2026, with relaxation available for eligible categories as specified in the official notification. Candidates who have previously undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training, or whose apprenticeship was terminated due to their own fault, cannot apply. Candidates with one year or more of work experience after completing their qualification are also ineligible.
Selection process
Selection involves an online objective examination of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks, to be completed in 60 minutes. Merit lists will be prepared State/UT-wise and category-wise in descending order of aggregate marks. Where multiple sessions are held, scores will be normalised using the equi-percentile method. If two candidates share the same score at the cut-off, the older candidate will be ranked higher.
Candidates who qualify in the written test must then appear in a Local Language Proficiency Test for the language of their chosen State or Union Territory. Those who can produce Class 8, Class 10 or Class 12 certificates proving prior study of the relevant language are exempt. Indian Bank may also conduct an interview at its discretion. Engagement is subject to document verification and medical fitness as prescribed by the bank.
The application fee is Rs. 800 plus GST for General, OBC and EWS candidates, and Rs. 175 plus GST for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Payment must be made online between 5 November and 25 November 2026. The fee is non-refundable.
How to apply
Candidates must first register on the NATS 2.0 apprenticeship portal and ensure their profile is 100 per cent complete. A NATS Enrolment ID must be generated and saved before proceeding to the Indian Bank recruitment application.
After completing the NATS profile, candidates should locate the Indian Bank apprenticeship recruitment for 2026 on the NATS portal or the Indian Bank careers page, fill in the application form, upload required documents and pay the applicable fee online using a debit card, credit card or internet banking. Merely registering on NATS without completing the bank-specific application form will not be accepted.
