Public sector lender Indian Overseas Bank has named Bhuwan Chandra as its new chief financial officer (CFO). His appointment will be effective from December 1, 2019 according to the bank’s filing with the stock exchanges.
Chandra will be replacing Radha Venkatakrishnan, who will be retiring on November 30, 2019. The future plans of Venkatakrishnan were not disclosed in the filing.
As a part of his appointment, Chandra will be handling the role of the CFO and General Manager – Balance Sheet Management Department simultaneously.
He holds more than three decades of experience in the fields of operational banking, international banking, priority sector credit, credit monitoring, recovery, advances, audit and compliance.
Chandra joined the bank in 1984 as the District Agriculture Officer. Over the years, he was appointed as the Branch Head of rural, semi-urban, urban and metro branches.
Further, Chandra was Chief Representative of the bank for GCC countries at Dubai. He headed the regions of Kolkata and Ahmedabad for more than three years prior to being promoted to the post of General Manager. He holds a graduate degree in Agricultural Communication from Govind Ballabh Pant University.
