Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) chief SK Roy has been elected chairman of the Life Insurance Council, the apex industry body of insurers in the country.
The three-member executive committee (EC), which is a key body of the council, was also elected. The elected members are Tarun Chugh (PNB Met Life), Anup Rau (Reliance Life) and Sandeep Ghosh (Bharti AXA).
Roy will head EC for a period of three years.
Life Insurance Council is a forum that connects the various stakeholders of the sector. It develops and coordinates all discussions between the Government, Regulatory Board and the Public. In short, it is the face of the Life Insurance industry.
