Manoj Kohli appointed as SoftBank India head

After completing a five-year stint as the chairman of SB Energy, a Japanese telecom and investment firm’s renewable energy business subsidiary, Manoj Kohli has joined SoftBank India as it’s country head.

As a part of his new appointment, Kohli will be in charge of government relations and public policy efforts besides supporting SoftBank, SoftBank Vision Fund, and the banking major’s portfolio companies’ ventures in India.  Further, he will work with portfolio company founders and CEOs in a bid to help them navigate through the government and policy issues and help secure mandatory approvals in order to empower the companies to run their operations seamlessly and realize their true potential.

Earlier, Kohli was associated with Bharti Airtel as an executive, was Head of International Operations and has worked with firms such as DCM Shriram and Escotel before joining SoftBank.

Raman Nanda, who is a part of SoftBank since 2011, will be heading SB Energy Global. In other major leadership developments at SoftBank, Vikas Agnihotri, who was Google India’s interim country head, has now been appointed as the first operating partner in India for SoftBank’s Vision Fund. Besides, Sumer Juneja, former Norwest Venture Partners’ executive, who was hired to head India investments with SoftBank’s Vision Fund.
