The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has appointed Vibhor Jain as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 7. Jain had been serving as the acting CEO and MD over the past year and has been associated with ONDC for nearly five years, playing a key role in shaping the platform’s growth and strategic direction.
Speaking on the development, Jain emphasised the organisation’s continued focus on building open and interoperable digital infrastructure. He noted that such systems enable capabilities that traditional, closed platforms often lack due to structural and incentive limitations.
Founded in 2021, ONDC is a Section 8 company aimed at democratising digital commerce in India. The platform is designed to empower small businesses and retailers by enabling seamless connectivity with buyers across a unified digital network, reducing dependence on large, centralised marketplaces.
