Former Deputy Managing Director of the State Bank of India (SBI) Padmaja Chunduru has taken up the charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of public sector lender Indian Bank.
Padmaja is a post graduate in commerce from Andhra University and CAIIB. She joined SBI in 1984 as a probationary officer. In a career span of more than three decades, with several postings across India and the US, she acquired experience in credit management, corporate lending, retail operations, digital banking, treasury and international operations.
As Deputy Managing Director of SBI, Padmaja was responsible to oversee the global markets and digital banking verticals. Prior to that, she was appointed as country head of the bank in the US between September 2014 and August 2017, where she took charge of designing and overseeing strategic planning, business activity, risk management and compliance in the US offices of SBI in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
She played a pivotal role in driving the local US business via both syndicate and bilateral loans to US corporates.
