Paytm, India’s leading digital payment company now also into eCommerce segment, has joined hands with two cinema giants, PVR cinemas and INOX, to facilitate buying movie tickets online. Until now, movie-lovers have just one choice for booking movie tickets in BookMyShow.
“The movie tickets will play crucial role in expanding our offline reach,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & CEO, Paytm.
One of the most popular payment gateways, Paytm was already with BookMyShow to offer discounts to the Paytm wallet users. However, with the latest initiative it aims to increase its digital wallet penetration further.
As an add-on, it will also facilitate the buyers to pay for refreshment and food items at the movie halls. This will strengthen Paytm’s offline wallet push, “helping in our plan to reach every nook and corner”, according to Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
With a mission to make the cashless transaction smooth and beneficial in almost all kinds of Indian markets, ranging from small shops at the corners to online payments, Paytm is working hard to book over 4 million merchants by the end of this year as per the target of their offline model. This will not only make offline payment smooth even for offline stores but also help in reducing the cases of money laundering, fraud and black money.
