In a bid to ramp up its offline business, Flipkart’s digital payment arm PhonePe has acquired Zopper Retail-a Point of Sale (PoS) for small and medium businesses.
Post this acquisition, Zopper’s CEO Neeraj Jain and the engineering leadership team will join PhonePe’s.
Zopper Retail is designed specifically to match the needs of millions of retails in India and its brand policy is in complete alignment with PhonePe’s strategy of making India a digital country, said Sameer Nigam, CEO, PhonePe.
The strategic alliance of these two brands is expected to enhance the usage of digital payments for merchants across the country.
“By joining forces we strengthen our commitment of using technology for simplifying our merchant’s billing, payments and inventory management systems,” said Neeraj Jain, CEO, Zopper.
Zopper claims to have a network of around three lakh offline and online merchant outlets catering to food, travel, groceries, movie tickets, etc.
