Piyush Goyal to present interim Budget 2019 on February 1

budget 2019Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal will present interim Budget 2019-20 on February 1. This budget is going to Narendra Modi-led government’s last interim budget before the general election.

The announcement will most likely include certain major perks for farmers and the middle class.

On Wednesday, a Whatsapp message from the commerce ministry to the media asked them not to report Budget 2019-20 as interim Budget and it is officially referred as general Budget 2019-20.

There was a lot of confusion in the political circle that the Centre may deviate the practice of presenting interim Budget and announce a full Budget ahead of general elections.

Last week, the Centre gave railway minister Goyal an additional charge of the finance ministry as Arun Jaitley has gone to the United States for treatment.

As union finance minister, Jaitley presented five Budgets.
