On September 16, Kerala-based CSB Bank announced the appointment of Pralay Mondal as the bank’s new Managing Director and CEO.
According to a press release, the Board of Directors of the Bank authorised the appointment of Mondal as the MD & CEO of the Bank on September 15, 2022, based on the consent granted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Mondal’s appointment is for three years, from September 15, 2022 to September 14, 2025, in accordance with RBI permission, according to the bank.
Mondal joined the bank as President (Retail, SME, Operations, and IT) on September 23, 2020, and was named Deputy Managing Director on February 17, 2022.
During his tenure, Mondal served as the bank’s interim Managing Director and CEO from April 1, 2022 until the present, in the absence of a regular Managing Director and CEO.
Mondal formerly worked at Axis Bank as an Executive Director and Head of Retail Banking. Mondal has over 30 years of banking expertise in a variety of industries and operations such as retail assets, retail liabilities, business banking, goods, and technology.
Prior to joining Axis Bank, he was Senior Group President and Head of Retail and Business Banking at Yes Bank, where he was important in establishing the bank’s entire retail franchise.
Mondal formerly worked for HDFC Bank for 12 years and previously worked for Standard Chartered Bank, Wipro InfoTech, and Colgate Palmolive.
