RBI nod for reappointment of Sandeep Bakshi as MD & CEO of ICICI Bank

The Reserve Bank of India approved Sandeep Bakshi’s reappointment as ICICI Bank’s Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer for three more years, with him remaining in the position until 3 October, 2026.

“The Board unanimously approved the re-appointment of Sandeep Bakhshi for a period of three years with effect from October 4, 2023 to October 3, 2026, subject to approval of the RBI and shareholders of the Bank,” said the regulatory filing.

Sandeep Bakhshi has worked for the ICICI Group for 36 years, holding various positions at ICICI Limited, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, ICICI Bank, and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.

Since October 15, 2018, he has served as the MD & CEO of the Bank. Prior to his appointment as MD and CEO, he was a Wholetime Director and the bank’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Previously, the ICICI Bank’s board of directors reappointed Sandeep Bakshi as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term, according to a regulatory filing.

Sandeep Bakshi’s term was to end on October 3, 2023. The reappointment tenure runs from October 4, 2023 to October 3, 2026, and is subject to approval by the Reserve Bank of India and ICICI Bank shareholders.
