RBI welcomes Dr. Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as Executive Director

Dr. Ajit Ratnakar Joshi

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has brought Dr. Ajit Ratnakar Joshi on board as its Executive Director. With this appointment, he now leads two significant divisions: the Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM) and the Financial Stability Department, reinforcing RBI’s data-driven policymaking and risk management strategies.

Dr. Joshi’s career spans over 30 years, covering key areas such as statistics, information technology, and cyber risk. Before this, he held the position of Principal Adviser at DSIM, where he played an integral role in data analytics and policy formulation.

Apart from his work at the RBI, he has also been a faculty member at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, Hyderabad, and has contributed to multiple committees focused on economic statistics and financial policies.

Dr. Joshi holds a master’s degree in statistics from Nagpur University and a Ph.D. in monetary economics from IIT Madras. His academic portfolio also includes a diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. Additionally, he is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB).
