The Government of India has appointed Shri Rohit Jain, currently serving as Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as the Deputy Governor of the central bank.
The appointment was announced through an official notification dated May 2, 2026, issued under the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, read with sub-section (4) of the same section.
Shri Jain will serve a term of three years from the date of assuming charge, which is expected on or after May 3, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
