The Uttar Pradesh government has tabled a Rs 5,12,860.72 crore budget for Financial Year 2020-21 in the state assembly.
The size of the budget, which has Rs 33,159 crore higher alloaction than the last year’s budget, offer provisions worth Rs 10,967.87 crore for new schemes.
Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the budget in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
UP budget 2020: Highlights
Expansion and beautification of Kashi Vishwanath temple
The budget also alloted Rs 180 crore for setting up a cultural centre in Varanasi and Rs 200 crore for d beautification of Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Development of Ayodhya as tourist spot
The budget has earmarked Rs 85 crore and another Rs 10 crore for renovation for development of the pilgrim city Ayodhya as a tourist spot.
Rs 20 crore for UP Police
The state government of Uttar Pradesh has proposed Rs 20 crore for UP Police and forensic institute.
Rs 500 crore for Ayodhya airport
After the Supreme Court’s decision on Ram Mandir, the UP government has proposed Rs 500 crore for the Ayodhya airport, which will make it convenient for the tourists to travel to the place.
Rs 3 crore for cybercrime
In the wake of rising cases of cybercrime, the UP government has also proposed Rs 3 crore for cybercrime.
Rs 358 crore for Kanpur metro
The UP government has proposed Rs 358 crore for Kanpur metro and Rs 200 crore for Gorakhpur metro and metro in other cities.

The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed Rs 5,791 crore for Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
Rs 2000 crore for Jewar Airport

The government proposed Rs 20,000 crore for Smart City Project in Kanpur, Lucknow and other districts of the state.

Rs 4,000 crore for Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan
The budget proposed Rs 4,000 crore for Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan and Rs 200 crore for Kashi Vishwanath mandir. It also proposed a law university in Prayagraj and Ayush university in Gorakhpur.
