In a bid to offer assistance and platform to the Indian developers, digital giant Paytm has launched its own mini app store. This is also seen as a direct challenge to Google’s dominance in the app store fraternity.
The app store is launched as a reaction to its permanent removal from the Google Play store on September 18, allegedly for violating the money gaming guidelines.
Paytm apps store will be hosting links to progressive Web apps (PWAs) which are light version apps and can run within a Web browser without the need of any installation.
As of now, the Mini App Store has only few apps listed, however, Paytm plans to list around 300 services soon.
“The Mini App store has been developed to offer assistance to small developers and businesses in India for setting up low-cost and easy-to-build apps using HTML and Javascript. These apps open within a window inside the Paytm app itself, and the listings will also be free, Paytm said.
Paytm will also be providing developers with free payment avenues such as Paytm Wallet, Paytm Payments Bank, and UPI.
