Vivek Chandra Verma

Shri Vivek Chandra Verma (IOFS, 1991) has assumed the additional charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) with immediate effect. His appointment comes at a crucial time as UIDAI continues to strengthen its role in India’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.

A seasoned bureaucrat with extensive experience in public administration, Verma is widely regarded for his strong administrative acumen and results-driven approach. Over the years, he has held several key positions in government, where he has demonstrated an ability to drive operational efficiency and deliver impactful outcomes across complex systems.

UIDAI, which manages Aadhaar—the world’s largest biometric identity platform—plays a pivotal role in enabling digital governance, financial inclusion, and seamless delivery of public services across the country. With Aadhaar increasingly integrated into a wide range of services, from banking and telecom to welfare schemes, the leadership at UIDAI remains critical to ensuring security, scalability, and innovation.

In his new role, Verma is expected to focus on strengthening UIDAI’s infrastructure, enhancing service delivery mechanisms, and advancing the authority’s digital transformation agenda. His leadership will be instrumental in addressing emerging challenges related to data security, privacy, and the growing demand for reliable digital identity solutions.

Additionally, Verma’s appointment signals continued emphasis on efficiency and accountability within UIDAI’s operations. As the authority looks to expand its capabilities and adapt to new technological advancements, his experience is likely to play a key role in shaping its future direction.
