GIC Re Appoints Hitesh Joshi as Chairman-cum-Managing Director

General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re), the country’s national reinsurer, has appointed Hitesh Rameshchandra Joshi as its Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), effective June 16, 2026. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition at one of India’s most important insurance and reinsurance institutions.

Joshi had been serving as the interim CMD since October 2025 after the completion of the tenure of former CMD Narayanan Ramaswamy.
