Ketan Merchant’s tenure as Interim Chief Executive Officer at Fino Payments Bank Ltd has been extended for another three months, effective August 27, 2026, subject to approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Merchant has been associated with Fino Payments Bank since 2018 and has held several key leadership responsibilities within the organisation. Before taking charge as Interim CEO, he served as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer and Head of the Organisation, contributing to its financial management and business operations.
With more than 27 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector, Merchant brings extensive expertise across finance, retail banking and balance-sheet management. His experience spans both strategic and operational functions, supporting his leadership responsibilities at Fino Payments Bank.
Prior to joining Fino Payments Bank, Merchant held senior roles with HSBC, Standard Chartered and Barclays, gaining experience across major international banking institutions. His professional background includes significant exposure to financial management, banking operations and balance-sheet strategy.
The extension will allow Merchant to continue steering Fino Payments Bank as the organisation progresses through its current leadership transition. His continued tenure also provides stability to the bank’s management while the necessary regulatory approval process with the RBI is undertaken.
