Manish Mehta has joined SBI Funds Management as Chief Business Officer, bringing more than three decades of experience across sales, business development, marketing, digital transformation, strategic partnerships and customer experience.
Mehta’s appointment marks a significant new chapter in a career closely associated with the evolution of India’s mutual fund industry.
He began his journey with Kotak Mutual Fund in 1999, when the fund house managed approximately ₹260 crore. Over the years, he progressed through sales leadership roles and eventually became Joint President and Head of Sales, Marketing and Digital Business at the Kotak Mahindra Group.
Between his two stints with Kotak, Mehta led sales at AIG Capital Investments India and later served as President and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Inc. in the United States, where he worked with institutional investors, family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals seeking investment opportunities in India.
When Mehta concluded his long Kotak journey in 2025, the asset manager had grown to approximately ₹5.5 lakh crore in assets—a remarkable increase from the ₹260 crore level when he first joined.
At SBI Funds Management, Mehta will bring his extensive expertise to a larger platform, with a focus on business development, distribution, customer acquisition, digital access and customer experience.
His role comes at a time when India’s investment ecosystem is expanding rapidly, with mutual funds reaching an increasingly diverse investor base across the country. His mandate is expected to support deeper investment penetration, strengthen distribution and improve access to investment solutions.
