Apple has introduced three new payment modes for its users in India. App Store and iTunes for users in India now include United Payments Interface (UPI), RuPay, and Netbanking.
As reported by Mashable, this development indicated that Apple users will now be able to make payments using made in India payment systems as well as international payment systems such as credit cards and debit cards when adding funds to Apple’s stores.
Besides, the balance can be used to pay for streaming services namely Netflix and Amazon Prime, and Apple’s own services like Apple Arcade and Apple One.
Launched in 2012, RuPay card facilitates real-time electronic payments at all banks and financial institutions in India.
UPI was launched in 2016 and is seen as a potential player in the payments domain, giving competition to PayTM, PhonePe, Google Pay, and more recently, WhatsApp dominating the space.
