The public sector Bank of Baroda has teamed with the Tamil Nadu government to offer a co-branded RuPay Platinum Debit Card in the state, the bank announced on Friday.
Bank of Baroda has launched a debit card for recipients of the state government’s ‘Pudhumai Penn’ scheme.
As a result, the card provides personal accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 2 lakh per year, and the joining and yearly fees for the first year have been eliminated, according to a statement from Bank of Baroda.
The government’s ‘Pudhumai Penn’ initiative attempts to increase the number of girls who transfer from government schools to higher education institutions. Every girl would receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 under this arrangement till she completed her degree programme.

The card was inaugurated at an event in Chennai by T Udhayachandran, principal secretary of the Tamil Nadu government’s special implementation department, and A Saravanakumar, general manager and zonal head of Bank of Baroda.
