Centre names MDs, CEOs of ten PSBs

mrityunjay mahapatraThe government on Wednesday appointed Managing Directors (MDs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) across ten nationalised banks.

Mrutyunjay Mahapatra and Padmaja Chundru, both Deputy Managing Directors in State Bank of India, have now been elevated to the position of MD and CEO of Syndicate Bank and Indian Bank respectively.

The appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Five out of the newly appointed MDs and CEOs were working as Deputy Managing Directors in SBI.

Mahapatra and Chundru’s tenure will last the date of their superannuation, i.e. May 31, 2020 and August 31, 2021, respectively, said an official order issued by the Personnel Ministry.

Apart from them, other three Deputy MDs of SBI Pallav Mohapatra, J Packirisamy and Karnam Shekhar, have been moved to Central Bank of India, Andhra Bank and Dena Bank, respectively, as MDs and CEOs.

Mohapatra and Packirisamy’s tenure will last till February 28, 2021. Shekhar will be the MD and CEO of Dena Bank till June 30, 2020.

Further, S S Mallikarjuna Rao has been named as MD and CEO of Allahabad Bank for a period of three years. Rao’s tenure is extendable up to the date of his superannuation, i.e. January 31, 2022, said the order.

He is currently the Executive Director of Syndicate Bank.

Centre also appointed A S Rajeev, Executive Director of Indian Bank, as MD and CEO of Bank of Maharashtra for an initial period of three years and extendable up to two years on the basis of his performance, it said.

In addition, Atul Kumar Goel and S Harisnakar have been named MD and CEO in UCO Bank and Punjab and Sind Bank respectively. Goel is currently serving as the Executive Director of Union Bank of India, and Harisnakar is the Executive Director of Allahabad Bank.

Ashok Kumar Pradhan is elevated as the MD and CEO of United Bank of India. He is currently the ED of the same bank.
