Fake RBI websites eyeing customers’ bank details, central bank issues warning

cyber attacks

cyber attacksThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently cautioned the customers regarding fake websites created on the layout similar to that of the central bank.

Reportedly, these malicious sites are stealing bank details of the consumers by disguising themselves as RBI.

As per the bank, one website named www.indiareserveban.org offers the provision of online bank account verification with a fraudulent intent to obtain personal and confidential banking details of the customers.

The fraud website demands the customer’s to submit their ID, PIN, email address, phone number, bank name and several other details. The website has several similarities with original RBI’s site including a ticker that reads “FAQs for KYC and Mint Street Memos”.

“RBI does not hold any accounts for individuals and never asks for personal information such as bank account details, passwords, etc. The Reserve Bank cautions members of public that responding online on such websites could result in compromising crucial personal information that may be misused to cause financial and other loss to them,” said RBI.
