Goldman Sachs designates Prachi Mishra as Chief India Economist

Prachi MishraLeading Investment global bank Goldman Sachs has appointed Prachi Mishra as its new Chief India Economist with immediate effect.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mishra was associated with International Monetary Fund (IMF) as deputy division chief of the Western Hemisphere Department.

As per the lender’s official communique, Mishra will be based in Mumbai.

She had been a part of the Strategic Research Unit at the Reserve Bank of India and also associated with IMF and the Ministry of Finance as Senior Economist.

Her current position at Goldman Sachs was vacant since the exit of Tushar Poddar in 2016.

In 2016, Tushar Poddar, chief economist for India at Goldman Sachs Group Inc, had left the company.

Mishra holds a PhD and an M Phil in Economics from Columbia University. She also has a postgraduate and graduate degree in Economics from the University of Delhi.

Goldman Sachs caters to corporate and institutional clients by offering corporate finance (investment banking), equity sales and trading and fixed income securities businesses. It also provides macro-economic and investment research.

The lender has also invested it India and deploys over $ 3.4 billion in capital since 2006.
