“We would like to state that the technical glitch has been rectified. Our NetBanking and MobileBanking App platforms have now stabilized. Once again, we would like to sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience caused,” HDFC Bank said.

The online services of India’s largest private sector bank was at halt for three working days starting from Monday morning till Wednesday night. The technical team of the bank were on round the clock duty to bring a solution to the issue after which it could say that some of its customers were able to transact using netbanking and mobile banking app, a few were still facing discontinuous issues.

The technical error affected scores of HDFC Bank’s customers who complained that they were not able to pay their loan EMIs or settle credit card bills on time. Almost 90 percent of transactions at HDFC Bank, are digital.

The salaried class was among the most affected by the problem as several employers were not able to transfer their salaries into the accounts of their employees while those who got salaries were not able to do online transactions.

“HDFC Bank management should address these glitches in minutes rather than hours as banking is now technology-dependent and a huge client base gets impacted,” said Kranthi Bathini, an analyst at Wealthmills Securities.

HDFC Bank had faced a similar glitch at the time of the launch of this  app last year.
