Karnataka Bank names Srikrishnan Harihara Sarma as MD & CEO

Karnataka Bank announced the appointment of Srikrishnan Harihara Sarma as the bank’s new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

In a regulatory filing, the bank said, “The appointment is effective from the date of his assuming charge and will last for a period of three years. Karnataka Bank is confident that Srikrislman’ s expertise and leadership will drive the bank towards continued growth and success”.

The appointment is subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting or within three months of taking command, whichever comes first, according to a BSE filing. The bank’s board of directors would now include 11 directors, according to the announcement.

“I am proud to join Karnataka Bank as Managing Director & CEO. With over a century of trust and goodwill built by the Bank, I look forward to working with all the stakeholders to further build and grow on that strong foundation,” said Srikrishnan.

He has about four decades of experience in commercial, retail, and transactional banking, as well as technology and payments. For over 9 years, he was a member of the founding management team at HDFC Bank Limited, and as the country head of Transactional Banking and Operations, he was involved in the establishment of the bank’s corporate and retail banking, treasury, and capital markets infrastructure operations.
